About the series 

Interested in advancing your studies in American history, politics and society Join us for the Advanced Seminar Series on American History, Politics, and Society where you will:

• Engage in thematic multi-perspective dialogues on American history, politics, and society.

• Participate in open discussions to broaden your knowledge and deepen your analysis.

• Network with people who share similar interests in the study of the United States.

An academic expert dedicated to building bridges between China and the United States will lecture and lead the seminar discussions.  The seminars will take place under Chatham House Rule.

主题一：美国自由的故事（3次研讨会）

• 研讨会1：自由的诞生与边界：独立革命与建国早期的自由故事 （已完成）

• 研讨会2：自由的新生与拓展：美国内战与进步改革时代的自由故事

  本次研讨会围绕19世纪的美国，经济的发展和奴隶制难以调和的矛盾，最终酿成了内战，从而实现了自由的新生。随着内战的结束，美国进入了经济高速发展的时代，进步改革时代开始浮现，自由的理念也不断扩张。

• 研讨会3：自由的重建与传播：从冷战到全球化时代的自由故事 

Theme One: The story of American freedom (3 Seminars)

• Seminar 1: The Birth and Boundary of Freedom: The American Revolution and the Founding of the United States (completed)

• Seminar 2: The Rebirth and Expansion of Freedom: From the American Civil war to the Progressive Reform Era

  The second seminar in this series revolves around the United States in the 19th century. The sharp and irreconcilable contradictions between economic development and the slavery system eventually led to civil war, and thus facilitated a new birth of freedom. With the end of the Civil War and the Reconstruction era, the United States entered a period of rapid economic development, accompanied by social transformation and the emergence of urbanized states. This era marked the onset of progressive reforms, wherein the concept of freedom continued to expand.

• Seminar 3: Reconstruction and the Spread of Freedom: From the Cold War to the Era of Globalization

活动将采用英语和中文进行。This event will be conducted in English and Chinese.
