In 2022, the Chinese wine market faced many challenges, but also saw the dawn of an imminent rebound. Interwine worked with the industry to organize efficient exhibition platforms for wineries and importers. In total, Interwine has organized 1 main fair + 1 IGC competition + 3 themed shows + 1 wine region academy + 40 city roadshows + 100 masterclasses in 2022, injecting energy into the development of the wine market.

The 28th Interwine China

August 16-18, Guangzhou

The 28th Interwine China was organized on August 16-18 in Canton Fair Complex. It was the first international wine exhibition in Asia in the second half of 2022 and became the focus of the industry. This exhibition had 812 exhibitors and attracted a total of 18,582 professional buyers to visit and purchase.



Products from various countries and regions around the world gathered at the 28th Interwine. In terms of categories, this edition of Interwine exhibited wine, Cognac/Armagnac/brandy, whisky, vodka, gin, tequila, sake, soju, beer, fruit wine, RTD, non-alcoholic liquor and other varieties.


National Pavilions


The exhibits came from more than 30 countries/regions, including leading countries such as France, Chile, Italy, Spain, Germany, etc., as well as "newcomers" in the Chinese market such as Brazil and Greece, who are looking forward to making a big splash in China.


Theme areas


Interwine reflects the industry's hot trends with theme areas such as the 90+ Awarded Premium Wine Area and the WhiskyExpo whisky area, creating a exhibiting area for specific categories of wine & spirits.

Interwine Grand Challenge

June 27-29, Foshan

The 25th Interwine Grand Challenge International Wine and Spirits Competition was successfully organized in Foshan on June 27-29, 2022. A total of 268 companies from 21 countries and regions, with more than 1,000 wines & spirits, registered for this year's IGC. After preliminary screening for quality and suitability, 942 products were finally qualified for the competition.



This year's judging panel has a strong line-up, with judge chairman Cassidy Dart MW leading a panel composed of senior lecturers, consultants, experts, KOLs and practitioners in the wine and spirits industry from China and abroad.



After professional evaluation and review by 13 expert judges, 405 winning wines were finally selected, including 9 double-gold awards (1%), 78 gold awards (8.3%), 107 silver awards (11%) and 256 bronze awards (27%). The ratio of award-winning wines in the competition accounted for 48% of the total number of wines entered.

Entrepreneur Tasting Event

June 9, Foshan

On June 9, the Interwine Premium Wine Roadshow and Entrepreneur Tasting Event was successfully organized at Foshan Nanhai International Exhibition & Convention Center. Interwine organized this high-end wine and spirits event for entrepreneurs in Foshan, a city has one of the most developed private economies in the country, with a GDP of 1.2 trillion yuan in 2021.



June 9th is also the day that the Global Entrepreneurs Wine Club was established. Dozens of foreign consuls, business association leaders, entrepreneurs and other guests were invited to attend the launching ceremony. 



Interwine Foshan Premium Wine Roadshow has a strong line-up of over 60 exhibitors, exhibiting wines, Cognacs, Armagnacs, baijiu, sake and beer from France, Italy, Chile, China, Spain, the United States, Australia, Japan, Argentina, Russia, Moldova and other countries.


Exhibiting of fine wines was a main feature of the event, with exhibits from 1855 Classification Grands Crus, Saint-Emilion Premiers Grands Crus Classés, top Chilean estates, U.S. state banquet wines, LVMH winery, etc.



The Aged Whisky Masterclass was conducted by Mr. Jiajun Liang, with top whiskies like the Tullibardine 20 Year Old Single Malt, Highland Queen 30 Year Old, Dalmore King Alexander III Single Malt and Jura 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Single Malt. This is a comprehensive demonstration of the charm of aged whisky.

Interwine Winery Show

11.24 Shenzhen | 12.06 Guangzhou

Interwine organized two winery shows: Shenzhen on November 24 and Guangzhou on December 6, attracted more than 700 visitors. These events brought together wineries from different regions in Italy, France, Georgia, Chile, the United States, New Zealand and other countries, exhibiting red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, natural wines and other categories, providing visitors with a directly communication channel  to overseas wineries.


11.24 Shenzhen winery show


The Shenzhen winery show features Italian wineries as the main focus, with fine wines from Piedmont, Friuli, Veneto, Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo, Campania, Puglia and other classic regions, plus wineries from old and new world countries such as France, Georgia, Chile, the United States and New Zealand, presenting a rich wine selections.


12.06 Guangzhou winery show


the Guangzhou roadshow also had a strong line-up, showcasing wines and spirits from Bulgaria, Italy, France, Chile, Spain, the United States, Australia, Argentina and other countries. At the same time, the Georgian wine masterclass presented by Cassidy Dart MW was very popular and packed to capacity.

Chianti Academy China

April 7-8, Guangzhou

During April 7-8, 2022 Chianti Academy China course was organized successfully! The course is still presented by the Consorzio Vino Chianti in collaboration with Interwine. With the new theme of "wine & food experience", attendees can explore the beauty and diversity of Chianti wines in a brand new way.



This course attracted 45 wine importers to sign up. The course took place at the Atelier Des Sens Italian-themed restaurant. In this two-day course, there were 14 Chianti wines waiting for students to taste each day.



Wine & food experience is the theme of this course and also the highlighted session. For the first day, the course prepared Italien food + Chianti wine pairing. Chef Andrea Donazzan, who has served many five-star hotels around the world, prepared dishes from regions of Italy from south to north. Combined with different styles of wines from Chianti, a new experience has been created.


Exquisite Italian cuisine


The theme on the second day was "Chinese and Western combination", with exquisite Chinese dishes paired with top Chianti Riserva wines. This combination is also closer to the daily dining habits of Chinese consumers. Chinese food and Chianti wine have proven to be excellent match. This combination can bring pleasant sensory enjoyment.


Delicious Chinese Cuisine


The two-day Chianti Academy course with 28 different Chianti wines, through systematic study and tasting, attendees have a comprehensive understanding of the Chianti wine region, and have an over all idea of this Sangiovese-based wine in different sub-regions, climate, soil, winemaker and year. Pairing with Italian and Chinese dishes gave attendees a deeper sense of Chianti wine. The attendees praised Chianti wine after the course.

Interwine Roadshow

Feb. 24 - Dec. 16, 40 Cities

The 2022 Interwine Roadshow started in Guangzhou on February 24 and wrapped up in Foshan on December 16, lasting 295 days and organized 40 roadshows in this year.



This year, the epidemic still recurred in different parts of China, and some roadshows had to be delayed or cancelled. However, Interwine faced the challenges and increased our efforts to invite visitors from the host cities and surrounding areas. In the end, 2022 Interwine Roadshow attracted 13,550 importers and distributors to visit, opening up direct channels for exhibitors to connect with local wine markets across China.



With the experience and resources accumulated from 18 years of organizing professional wine exhibitions, Interwine precisely invites local importers & distributors to visit before each city roadshow, connecting exhibitors with local channels. This model has helped many overseas wineries to successfully develop the Chinese market.
